Recently, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation released new statistics regarding traffic fatalities in the state. The information provided by PennDOT indicates that the number of Pennsylvania traffic fatalities from January 1, 2010 – August 2, 2010 is up marginally from the number of fatalities reported from January 1, 2009 – August 2, 2009. In 2010, there were 736 fatalities reported by August 2 and in 2009 there were 721 fatalities reported by August 2.
Both 2009 and 2010 saw significant decreases from 2007 and 2008 numbers for the same period when the number of fatalities topped 835 by August 2 of each of those years.
