On Sunday, May 23, 2010 19 year old Mia Stphard of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania was hit by a vehicle as she walked on Route 611, about two tenths of a mile north of Foxtown Hill Road, in Smithfield Township. Ms. Stphard was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest with blunt force trauma injuries. She passed away from those injuries shortly before 7:30 a.m. Monday May 24, 2010.
The state police at Swiftwater are investigating the cause of the accident. No charges have been filed yet and no information has been released about the driver who killed this young woman in this pedestrian accident.
